HTC EVO Unrevoked Root
Saturday, 31. July 2010
In this video we will take a look at the new “Unrevoked” tool for rooting your HTC Sense loaded Android device. Unrevoked promises a solution to making root easy and painless. By simply downloading the program, the user can connect their device to their computer via USB, and Unrevoked does the rest. Press play below to see just how easy Unrevoked actually is as we test it on our HTC EVO 4G. Will it live up to its claim? One important element to note here is that using Unrevoked to root your device does grant Superuser Permissions. However, it will NOT give you the ability to flash a custom ROM, such as Cyanogen. Let us know your thoughts on Unrevoked and if you’ve personally used it!

THANKS for such a great video. I really like that you shot a dual display device:computer and that you read the portions the messages that we should expect to pop up on each device, as they happened. I would like to know if anyone has tried this and has been successful. My mail goal is to be able to use the mobile hotspot and avoid the 30 fee but of course I am nervous I will break my phone. I’m not a huge techie but am good at instructions. Is there a way to restore to original conditions?
KidBajan Says:
I’m still a bit lost as to what this does.

glenzoges Says:
Can you get PAID Market apps after using unrevoked 3 method? Or do I need to install Market Enabler? I remembered that it was possible to get your Market apps. without a hitch with the unrevoked 2.
F1nir Says:

YourPervertNextDoor Says:
@hassmann2000 Rooting gives you access to more things on your phone, so you can flash custom ROMs and more.
hassmann2000 Says:
what is the point of this rooting thing?
simonbobsen Says:
U can flash custom ROM’s on your phone using this tool!
TheDeadCPU Says:
Wow. On the Desire with Linux I only needed to press “root” and it did everything for me, didn’t even have to choose HTC Sync.
TheDeadCPU Says:
@supremo502 It now does full root..
ravenravenPL Says:
Very nice (its soooo easier than goldcard and all of crap on G1), but one advice: having a “Superuser Permission” program on your device does not have to mean, that you really have root access. I mean even if I have stock 2.1 I can download this app from XDA and install it.
To really prove superuser you have to download terminal emulator and type in “su” – if it gives back “#” THEN you really proven that you have root.
supremo502 Says:
Its not a full root.. its crap for people that are too lazy to click 4 buttons to Fully Root your evo using Simple Root method.
Doctors2Advocate Says:
@smacky2 I couldn’t phrase it properly else I’d lose the dramatic effect.
threebrothers1 Says:
