Twinmate nx10 Review

Thursday, 25. June 2009

Had a client yesterday request a  laptop with 3G / HSDPA connectivity.

There is a MSI u120h coming out on a month but he wanted it sooner.

After a long search and discussion I found the Twinmate nx10 with 3g modem built in and picked up that day for

$960 AUD.

First impressions were very good. Small Light 1.2kg and sexy.

Comes with XP however didnt have any service packs or updates installed.

So took me about 1 hr to run all the XP updates etc.

I compared with alot of other netbooks but this seemed to have the best features. Major one been it takes 2gb RAM and has a 250gb storage space.

Here are the specs

Intel Atom 1.6Ghz
10.2″ Wide Screen (1024×600 resolution)
Built-in Hardisk 250GB HDD & 2GB Memory
Built-in Web Camera
Wireless LAN
10/100Mpbs LAN
Non Explosive Lithium ion Battery
Cards Reader, Express Card Slot
3 x USB Port, 1 x VGA Port
Free Twinmate Sleek Case
Linux-Linpus or Windows XP
Optional 3G
Size: 260×195×33mm
*1.2Kg Stylish Lightweight with 10.2″ Wide Screen
*First in the world with”Non-Explosive Polymer Lithium Battery” in a Intel Atom Technology – An engineering Breakthrough that protects the battery from damage and the risk of overheating due to voltage surge.
*Built in 250GB Massive Storage
*Non Explosive Lithium ion Battery
*160 degree of horizontal Viewing Angle
*150 degree of Vertical Viewing Angle

Twinmate are also the makers of the Durabook

A major competitor the the Panasonic Toughbook.

So Twinmate should be able to make a pretty good laptop.. time will tell.

Suprising this model went under my radar for so long.

Im surprised more laptop manufacturers arent making more laptop with 3g/hsdpa modems built in as this is a feature more and more of my clients are wanting in a laptop.

For under $1000 what a bargain!
